A Change of Place... A Change of Pace
Michael Glascock and I were friends in high school and I called him one day to talk because so many of you have been looking into moving here. After 19 years helping people finance homes here in Idaho I feel like I have something to say about the community where I now raise my family.
“ You mean Iowa?” Friends often joke with me. No friends, I don’t mean Iowa, I mean Idaho, next door to Nevada, Oregon, Washington and just a quick drive home if you’re NorCal. If you’re in SoCal - it’s just an hour by plane.
Nothing beats raising your own family in a place that reminds you of home. You want to recreate your childhood memories with your own children. Eagle, Idaho does that perfectly for me. Growing up in the greater Sacramento area then later Carmichael I remember the tight knit community I was a part of. I knew my neighbors, walked to school and came home before it got dark. There’s not many places where that’s still the norm but I found one! Most of my neighbors are from Cali like me, looking for wide open spaces for kids to ride bikes and play with other kids in the neighborhood. But there are other similarities too. Love Tahoe? Bogus Basin Ski Resort is an hour drive. Further up the mountain you pass great river rafting and the gorgeous community of McCall offering world class 4 season resorts, golfing, hiking, zip-lining, fishing, snow-mobiling and more. There are also amazing restaurants, fun nightlife and an annual winter carnival complete with ice sculpting competition that will amaze children and adults alike. Truth be told there’s no ocean, which is heartbreaking, but there are beautiful lakes, rivers, sand dunes and plenty to satisfy the most advanced outdoor enthusiast. Most importantly the escape from traffic! Come for the weekend and check it out, you won’t want to go home— you’ll want to make it your new home.
